In today's digital age, the internet is flooded with information and, unfortunately, misinformation about sleep. This overwhelming abundance of conflicting advice can make it difficult to know what’s truly best for you or your child. So, why hire a sleep coach?
I am proud to say that I was first trained in 2021 by Dana Obleman, the creator of The Sleep Sense™ Method. Dana's approach is built on the strong belief that healthy sleep habits make for healthy children. A well-rested child is curious, energetic, happy, playful, and eager to learn. This foundational training has equipped me with the tools and knowledge to help families achieve better sleep.
Since then, I have continually expanded my education and expertise. I have furthered my training with renowned sleep expert Nick Lambe. This ongoing commitment to learning ensures that I stay up-to-date with the latest research and techniques in sleep coaching. When you entrust me as your (or your child's) sleep coach, whether through one-on-one consultations or seminars, you are placing a great deal of trust in me. I want you to know that I take this responsibility very seriously and am dedicated to providing the best possible guidance.
**A Note about Crying:**
Many books and programs addressing child sleep issues often take philosophical stands, particularly regarding the contentious topic of “crying it out.” However, I believe that your child's sleep is more important than my personal views on this subject. My goal is to help you find a sleep plan that aligns with your unique parenting style and family needs. Together, we can develop a customized sleep strategy that works for your family, ensuring a happier, healthier, and well-rested household.
By choosing me as your sleep coach, you are not just getting someone who has studied methods and read books; you are gaining a partner who is committed to your success and well-being. Let's work together to create a sleep plan that will bring peace, rest, and joy to your family’s life.
This will give you all the motivation you need to make changes to your child’s sleep habits.
All children are different, and nobody knows your child better than you do. I encourage you to use your knowledge of your child to customize his or her sleep plan.
No, you shouldn’t expect your child to sleep 12 uninterrupted hours on the first night — although it does happen! I’ll tell you what you should expect along the way…
A little note about the “crying” question: Since people always ask me about whether my solutions involve “crying it out,” I think it’s something that deserves to be addressed here.
Crying is your child’s way of protesting change, and you can expect that making changes to their sleep habits will result in some protest. That’s why I’m always sure to tell parents that my program will most likely involve at least some amount of protest on the child’s part.
Please understand that I will never ask you to leave your child to cry alone, nor will I ask you to ignore their cries. The reason that the Sleep Sense™ Method is so effective is that it lets you develop a plan that you feel comfortable with, based on what you know about your child.
If you have any questions at all about the philosophy behind the Sleep Sense™ Method, please don’t hesitate to ask! I can be reached by email at amanda@sleepsmart.coach.
